Scheepjes Whirl yarns have been enormously popular over the last few months, and with the addition of our Whirlette yarns, their popularity has sky rocketed!
Whirlettes are exactly the same yarn as Whirl but in a single colour, adding additional length to some Whirls for larger projects, or additional options such as sleeves on a garment in the same colour, or edgings.
At Scheepjes HQ, we are constantly being asked which Whirlettes match which Whirls. So, I've put together this comprehensive guide of matching Whirls and Whirlettes.
Whirls always start and end with a solid colour. I’ve marked the Whirls with a black solid dot that have a matching colour to a Whirlette, meaning you can seamlessly go from a whirl solid colour at the beginning or end of the yarn cake to a Whirlette and keep the gradient effect.
The colours of Whirls between the first and last are always two colours twisted together to make a smooth gradient. I’ve marked with a half & half (black and white) dot the whirls where one of the colours twisted matches the Whirlette. This means the colour in the Whirl matching the Whirlette does not appear solid but is twisted with a second colour. These Whirl & Whirlette combinations will co-ordinate well, but will not provide a seamless solid colour. Both will look beautiful and it’s personal choice, which you prefer!
This is wonderful!!! Thank you for creating it.

ReplyDeleteI’ve just had a look and maybe, just maybe Whirlette Avocado (861) might match with the green shade in Blackberry Mint Chip Whirl. Of course I’m not an expert, I’m only a Scheepjes lover but I hope this helps.
ReplyDeletecan you please provide the same for the ombre whirls
ReplyDeleteYes, new whirlettes are needed for the ombre whirls
ReplyDeleteWhat is the colour of the dark blue in the Blueberry Bambam? I'm going to be short finishing a shawl and need the darkest blue to finish.
ReplyDeleteThe whirlette Blueberry doesn't fit at all to any of the colours of the whirl Green Tea Tipple. Either the list here has some mistakes or I got an odd lot. They are really different. One is much more blue, the other much more green. They look horrible together.
ReplyDeleteNeither does it fit to the whirl Passion Fruit Melt for the same reason.
DeleteI'm so in love with this collection of gorgeousness. I don't know who sells this though!
ReplyDeleteHello, what about Banana Cream?
ReplyDeleteWhen I initially commented I clicked the -Notify me when new feedback are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there any method you'll be able to take away me from that service? Thanks! slots for real money
ReplyDeleteI’m looking for a recommendation for the Pistachi Oh So Nice. Any help would be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteMy recommendation is: buy it! It was my first, and is my favourite so far! <3 If I can help in any way, you can find me on instagram as crochet.land.

Hi Simy!
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy to have found this guide! I intend to work a lot with whirls and whirlettes this year, so it is really useful to have this psot around. Thank you for your effort!
I see your suggestion on this post is to mix Whirlette Chewy with Jumping Jaffa Pop. I bought both of them, but I came to believe that Whirlette Chewy is rather dark for the gray in Jumping Jaffa Pop.
Do you thing Whirlette Frosted would be a preferable choice? If its not too much to ask, if you do happen to have them both around, would you mind to give your opinion on the matter?
Thank you very much for such quality content! I've been diving on your blog and it has been a really pleasant experience.
Best regards,
Bruna.
Apparently, Sheepjes has come out with new Whirlette colors (I'm not sure when this happened, but they are new to me). Could you please update your whirl/whirlette post. Thank you for this post. It is very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI love it.
